Knicks Nate Robinson wins 2009 slam dunk contest: Call him Krypto-Nate. The New York Knicks guard beat defending champion Dwight Howard of Orlando in a slam dunk contest, winning 52 percent of fans’ votes. Dressed in an all-green Knicks uniform with green shoes, Robinson used Howard as a prop in the final round, springboarding over the 6-foot-11 center to jam.

Robinson and Howard moved on to the final round after eliminating JR Smith of the Denver Nuggets and Spaniard Rudy Fernandez of the Portland Trail Blazers, the first international competitor in the dunk event’s history.
Fernandez took a pass off the backside of the backboard from Lakers Pau Gasol, grabbing it out of bounds and scooping in a one-handed jam on the other side of the rim.
